Christmas cake mixing on high note in Vijayawada
The baking of fruit cake and Christmas cake mixing ceremony was conducted at Novotel Varun here on a grand note on Saturday evening.
Vijayawada: The baking of fruit cake and Christmas cake mixing ceremony was conducted at Novotel Varun here on a grand note on Saturday evening. Executive chef Vinay Kumar prepared extensive menu for a grand feast for the ceremony considered as a tradition.
He says the fruit cake is an inescapable part of the season and so was the Christmas cake mixing ceremony. There was something magical about baking a cake. From gauging the amount of ingredients, or mixing the flour/sugar, or the aroma of the cake baking in the oven, everything has a magical moment of happiness to it. And when it's Christmas time, baking a cake is pure ritual, he said.
He said going down the history of cake-mixing, it manifests the arrival of the harvest season. In earlier times, a lot of nuts and fruits were harvested during this time. The mix was saved for later use and in belief of an abundant year ahead, he added.
