Tirupati: Chief Justice of India justice Ranjan Gogoi participated in `Sahasra Deepalankara Seva' held near Tirumala temple on Saturday evening.

Justice Ranjan Gogoi and his spouse Rupanjali Gogoi sat along with other pilgrims witnessing the 45 minutes long seva in which Lord Malayappa, the processional deity along with His consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi gives darshan to devotees while on a swing, moved by priests rhythmically, amidst traditional music and devotional songs and also chanting of mantras from Vedas by Vedic Pundits.

Later CJI and his family members went to the temple to offer prayers to Lord Venkateswara. TTD Additional Executive Officer AV Dharma Reddy, temple Deputy Executive Officer Harindranath along with temple priests accorded warm welcome to the CJI at the main entrance of the shrine.

According to TTD sources, Justice Ranjan Gogoi will visit the shrine again on Sunday in the morning during VIP break to offer prayers before his departure from the hills after completing his two-day trip.

Earlier on Saturday afternoon, Justice Ranjan Gogoi accompanied by his wife Rupanjali Gogoi worshipped Goddess Padmavathi Devi at Tiruchanur.

On his arrival at the entrance of the temple, he was offered Purnakumbha Swagatham by temple priests and conducted into the shrine by TTD officials led by Joint Executive officer P Basanth Kumar..

After darshan of the presiding deity, he was offered prasadam by TTD JEO P Basanth Kumar.

Temple Dy EO Jhansi Rani, AEO Subramanyam and others were present. After offering prayers in Tiruchanur temple, Gogoi reached Tirumala for darshan of Lord Venkateswara.

He was given a warm reception by Additional EO AV Dharma Reddy, Reception officer Balaji and other senior TTD officials.

It may be noted here that CJI Ranjan Gogoi will lay down office on Sunday (November 17) after an illustrious career in the Indian judiciary.
