Chittoor: Despite being a native of Royalaseema region, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohana Reddy has drastically reduced funds for major irrigation projects like Handri-Neeva, Geleru-Nagari , Telugu Ganga and others in his maiden budget for 2019-20, stated A Rama Naidu, CPI District Secretary.

Speaking to press persons at Chittoor Press Club on Saturday, Rama Naidu explained the lapses of YSRCP Government in budget allocation for different heads. "State has been set to divert HNSS water to the western parts of the district for which huge funds would be required.

Out of the requirement of Rs.1,000 crore, Chief Minister allocated Rs.136 crore only. Like wise the budget allocation for other maior irrigation projects was also meagre, he said. He declared that CPI would launch an indefinite agitation shortly for safeguarding the interests of Royalaseema region focussing the negligent attitude of the Chief Minister.

District Farmers Union president T Janardhan recalled that Jagan Mohan Reddy, during his Sankalpayatra, had promised for resuming Chittoor Cooperative Sugar Factory and Chittoor Dairy. However, adequate funds were not allocated for reviving the sick units, he said.. He regretted that YSRC Government has failed to protect the dairy farmers even in fixing the supportive price for milk. CPI leaders Nagarajan, Murali, Gopinath, Mani, and others were present.
