CPM stages dharna over sand crisis
The city unit of CPM staged a dharna in front of Collectorate here on Thursday, demanding that the government ensure proper supply of sand.
Eluru: The city unit of CPM staged a dharna in front of Collectorate here on Thursday, demanding that the government ensure proper supply of sand. Addressing the agitators, the party city unit secretary P Kishore said that out total dozen sand reaches, sand is supplied from only two reaches in the district now.
This has resulted in increase in sand price by two folds and lack of work for the labour engaged in construction activity. As the government is keen to bring new sand policy from September, it is not advisable to tighten the supply from now itself.
As of now, if an individual needs sand, he has to secure challan in Mee Seva by paying the amount along with plan of the construction. Then the consumer has to apply for sand to Tahsildar concerned.
