Nellore: The Cyclone Fani has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm on Monday evening and is expected to intensify further into a "very severe" cyclonic storm in the next 12 hours.
The Cyclone Fani effect is clearly seen in Nellore district. The speedy winds are causing damage all around the coastal area. The sea condition is very rough and it has come 15 meters forward. With the heavy tides, the coastline at some places has been cut off.
The district officials are on high alert and issued a warning to fishermen not to venture in the sea. Indian Navy has also been put on high alert along the Bay of Bengal coast. The Naval ships positioned in Visakhapatnam and Chennai so that they can rush to the affected areas on emergency.
