Desalination plant will come up in Chillakur mandal, says Nellore Collector
District Collector M V Seshagiri Babu stated that they had proposed to set up a Desalination Plant in Chillakur mandal for converting saline water into potable water.
Nellore: District Collector M V Seshagiri Babu stated that they had proposed to set up a Desalination Plant in Chillakur mandal for converting saline water into potable water. He addressed at theZP General Body meet here on Sunday and gave replies to the queries of the legislators. They had requested the State Government to enhance water transportation charges, he said,
Zilla Parishad Chairman Bommireddy Raghavendra Reddy presided over the meeting and said that they had distributed 1 lakh books to the students, fishing nets to the fishermen, sewing machines to women with ZP funds during his tenure.
Members of the Zilla Parishad appealed to the authorities to provide drinking water to all habitations considering severe scarcity in the areas. They also demanded to enhance transportation charges for tankers that supply water to the habitations.
Nellore MP Adala Prabhakar Reddy asked the District Collector Seshagiri Babu to resolve drinking water issues in the district on war foot basis. Tirupati MP Balli Druga Prasad Rao also said that there is a need to supply water with tankers to all habitations.
Nellore rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy said that industries located in the district should provide employment to the local unemployed youth. Collector Seshagiri Babu said that they had sent proposals to the state government for converting sea water for drinking purposes and the unit is proposed to be set up in Chillakur mandal.
Collector also said that MPTCs and ZPTCs can bring any issues being faced by the local people in their respective areas on drinking water woes. Udayagiri MLA Mekapati Chandra Sekhar Reddy, Gudur MLA V Varaprasad and others were present.
