DRDO chief delivers lecture at SRM
Defense Research Development Organisation (DRDO) Director General Dr Samir V Kamat delivered a lecture at the SRM University-AP, Amaravati on Friday.
Amaravati: Defense Research Development Organisation (DRDO) Director General Dr Samir V Kamat delivered a lecture at the SRM University-AP, Amaravati on Friday.
Dr Kamat gave a detailed overview of the DRDO and made a mention of Research and Development (R&D) support areas such as Electronics and Communications, Radars, Missiles, Surveillance, Activities & achievements in Aeronautics, Naval Systems, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Autonomous Under Water Vehicles (AUVs), New Materials, Self-Healing Materials, Small Weapons, Missile Systems, Hypersonic Weapons, Armor and Life Support Systems.
He also highlighted a few areas such as Over The Horizon (OTH) Radars, Self-Healing Materials, Materials Genome, Ceramics &Composites. Paradigm Shift in Research & Development of materials will be essential to meet the future challenges.
He explained that the DRDO focus on "Additive Manufacturing, Computational Materials and Materials Genome, which are the game changer of future of materials. Several faculty members and research scholars evinced keen interest to get involved into some of the R & D programmes of DRDO and interacted through their questions.
