Visakhapatnam: Telugu language will soon die a natural death with the conversion of instruction in English medium in all government schools initiated by the State government, BJP MLC P V N Madhav has said.
Addressing media here on Friday, he pointed out that the unilateral move towards this effect will have an irreversible impact on the education system as students were used to hearing lessons in regional language at least till primary school level so far.
Madhav mentioned that Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy would have got inspired from the Telugu movie 'Bharat Ane Nenu' to take such unilateral decision. "However, real life varies from reel life.
But converting the state-run schools into English medium will push children to unnecessary pressure," he opined. Madhav recalled that the previous government also failed in implementing it as many objected to the move.
When neighbouring states were giving importance to strengthen their regional language, it is unfortunate that Andhra Pradesh is not according much priority as it should have been. He appealed to the State government to withdraw the GO issued in this regard, failing which he threatened that the BJP will intensify agitation across the state.
