Amaravati: Chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that the government would issue advertisements in all newspapers on December 12 regarding Minimum Support Prices (MSP) of various agricultural commodities and will purchase the produce as per the prices.
Reacting to criticism of TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu in Assembly during a short discussion on support price on Tuesday, the Chief Minister assured that the YSRCP government would utilise the Rs 3,000 crore Market Stabilisation Fund and purchase any quantity of produce from farmers, if they do not get the MSP in the market.
Earlier, Chandrababu Naidu observed that the MSPs announced by the state government for most of the crops were below market prices. Moreover, the farmers had been finding it difficult to get MSP. He said he would show the plight of farmers in the state if the Chief Minister came along with him.
At this juncture, the Chief Minister announced that government would publish the MSPs of 14 corps including paddy (Common and Grade A), jowar (Hybrid and Maldandi), bajra, ragi, maize, red gram, green gram, black gram, Bengal gram, groundnut, cotton (medium staple and long staple), turmeric, chillies and onions.
Jagan said that along with the MSPs of these commodities, the government would also announce where to sell the produce to the government agencies. In addition, the farmer can get the information regarding it through a dedicated phone number.
