Guntur: Minister opens onion sales counter in Rythu Bazaar
Minister for Agriculture Marketing Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao said that State government is supplying onions through Rythu Bazaars at Rs 25 a kg in the state.
Guntur: Minister for Agriculture Marketing Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao said that State government is supplying onions through Rythu Bazaars at Rs 25 a kg in the state. He along with district in-charge minister Cherakuvada Sri Ranganatha Raju inaugurated onions sales counter at Chuttugunta Rythu Bazaar here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said due to short supply, onions are being sold at Rs 90 a kg in the open market. Taking problems of consumers into consideration, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the marketing department to supply onions on subsidy price at Rs 25 a kg till the problem subsides.
He urged the consumers to avail the facility provided by the government and added the government was bearing the financial burden from the price stabilisation fund. He stated the Vigilance and Enforcement department officials were conducting raids on onion godowns of traders who are hoarding the stocks to create artificial scarcity.
Agriculture Marketing Commissioner P S Pradyumna, District Collector I Samuel Anand Kumar, MLA Kilari Rosaiah, were among those participated.
