The Andhra Pradesh high court on Monday has hit back at the government over reservations in the upcoming local body elections in the state. The High Court has ordered the government not to exceed the reservations by 50 per cent. The High Court held that the reservations as per the Supreme Court ruling against the increase in reservations more than 50 per cent. Many approached the High Court challenging the government's decision to reserve 59.85 per cent of the AP local bodies.

Earlier, the High Court had completed the hearing. The High Court heard the arguments of the two parties and reserved their verdict. The petitioners have reminded the judgment of the Supreme Court over 50 per cent reservations between Krishnamurthy and Union of India case.
