In suicide bid, engineering student jumps into Kundu River, friend rescues him

Kurnool: An engineering student attempted to commit suicide by jumping into Kundu River in Nandyal on Saturday. The CI of Taluka police station, T Diwakar Reddy said that one Praveen Kumar, resident of Nandyal attempted to commit suicide by jumping into Kundu River. Fortunately, his friend Vijay rescued him.
In the process, Praveen Kumar got his leg fractured and his friend Vijay also suffered some injuries. The Nandyal MLA, Shilpa Ravi Chandra Kishore Reddy who was passing by that way stopped and helped to shift the injured persons to hospital. We were informed about the incident. We rushed to Nandyal Government General Hospital and collected information.
``Neither the victims nor the family members are revealing the facts about the reasons behind attempting suicide. A source said that Praveen Kumar has completed his engineering degree but could not get job. Vexed over his life he wanted to commit suicide,'' the CI said.
We have filed a case and took up investigation, added Diwakar Reddy.
