Amaravati: Putting an end to the intense lobbying that was on for the post of Chairman of Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to appoint his close relative and former Ongole MP Y V Subba Reddy as the new chairman of TTD. The government has also decided to scrap the present board and reconstitute it with a new team of members.

Subba Reddy, party sources, say is a man who has spiritual and religious bent of mind and hence Jagan considered him as the most suitable for the post. Subba Reddy has been playing an important role in party activities in East and West Godavari districts so far.

The TTD, it may be mentioned here, is a trust run by IAS officers, administrators and political appointees whose job is to coordinate with the temple priests and ensure that the devotees who visit in lakhs get the best of the services.

After the change in the government, the board had witnessed an ugly scene as the senior officials, including Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal left the meeting hall as the Chairman Putta Sudhakar Yadav, who is a TDP leader, refused to resign voluntarily from the post. Normally, once the government changes the previous appointees should resign to enable the new government to pick new faces.
