Jana Sena always for Amaravati as capital: Pawan Kalyan
The agitation is not the farmers' problem but the problem of the whole State, he says
Mangalagiri: Janasena supremo Pawan Kalyan asserted here on Wednesday that Janasena always supports the capital city to be at Amaravati.
Addressing the leaders of the joint action committee of Amaravati Parirakshana Samiti who called on him at the party office here, Pawan recalled that he had taken up the issue with the BJP leadership when he visited Delhi last time and the high command stated that in their opinion Amaravati was the capital city of Andhra Pradesh.
Expressing solidarity with the agitating farmers and women, he appealed to the agitators not to set deadline for the movement. "Continue the agitation till the goal is achieved," he said.
Pawan took strong exception to the statements of YSRCP leaders on the shifting of the capital city without specifically mentioning anything on paper. He also said that it was not proper on the part of YSRCP leaders to comment on the dress and ornaments of the agitating women.
He said that he was disturbed by the agitating women who came out for the capital city despite the odds.
Janasena leaders T Sivasankar and Satya Bolisetti were also present.
Siva Reddy, convener of the JAC, said that the agitation for the capital city does not belong to any political party. "We have been agitating since December 17 last year," he said.
The agitation is not the farmers' problem but the problem of the whole state, he said.
Dr R Sailaja, Mahila JAC convener, said that the future of Andhra Pradesh depended upon the capital city of Amaravati. She expressed agony over the attempts to kill the capital city for the selfish ends of some persons.
