Vijayawada: BJP State president Kanna Lakshminarayana appealed to the people to give 'one chance' to the BJP-JSP combine in the ensuing elections to local bodies.

Addressing the Meet the Press organised by the Andhra Pradesh Working Journalists Forum here on Saturday, he said that Jagan Mohan Reddy came to power with the slogan 'one chance' and promised heaven on earth.

However, he forgot all his promises and indulged in vindictive politics. "Soon after assuming power, Jagan Mohan Reddy came out with his true colours," he said.

"I warned in the past that Jagan would dig his own pit but in fact, he started digging his own grave with a JCB," he quipped.

Referring to the faltering steps of the Chief Minister, Kanna said that Jagan Mohan Reddy stated that he would bring out a new liquor policy but he started government liquor shops.

Moreover, the YSRCP men started belt shops throughout the State indiscriminately. Then Jagan stated that he would introduce new sand policy, but the sand has become scarce in the State. And the sand mafia continued.

After he came to power, power tariff was increased which was against his earlier statement and bus fares were increased which was also against his earlier promise. Funds from the various welfare corporations were diverted to schemes like Amma Vodi, he said.

Describing the acts of the Chief Minister, Kanna said that it was like giving a chocolate and snatching the necklace. After Jagan assumed charge the government appears to be promoting one particular religion. He is even offering salaries to the pastors to promote that religion, he added.

Stating that Jagan was wasting public funds, he said that he appointed 40 advisors to the government by paying huge salaries from among the staff who had earlier worked for him.

Referring to the once chance, he affirmed that that the people who have been watching the able administration at the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi would sure trust the promise of the BJP.

Referring to the local body elections, he said that they had become farce. During his 42 years of public life he never experienced such most undemocratic and violent elections, Kanna said.

He said Jagan's decisions were only exposing his culture of egoism, sadism and factionism.

Kanna expressed concern over the failure of the State Election Commission to prevent the excesses of the YSRCP activists during the ongoing local body polls.
