Eluru: Medical representatives under the banner of Andhra Pradesh Medical and Sales Representatives Union staged a dharna at Joint Labour Commissioner here on Thursday, demanding that the government implement Sales Promotion Employees Act, 1976 as it is.
Addressing the protesters, the union secretary VVVN Prasad alleged that the Central government has not been implementing the Acts meant for them. Moreover, it was changing the laws to suit the requirements of the managements.
The government should recognize sales promotion employees as skilled employees and implement minimum wages for them, he demanded CITU district president B Somaiah and secretary DNVD Prasad alleged that the governments have been issuing subsidies to corporate firms and burdening common man.
