Guntur: Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan demanded that the government pay compensation of Rs 35,000 per acre to the farmers whose crops were damaged due to Cyclone Nivar.

The actor-turned-politician visited cyclone-hit agriculture fields in Repalle Assembly constituency in Guntur district on Wednesday and interacted with the farmers and enquired about crop loss.

Speaking on this occasion, he said that the government should extend financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to all the farmers whose crops were damaged due to Cyclone Nivar immediately.

He said that due to the cyclone, crops were damaged in 17-lakh acres in the State.

He urged the government to discuss on the farmers' problems in the ongoing State Assembly sessions instead of wasting time. He said that he had mounted pressure on the government to extend helping hand to the building construction workers earlier.

He assured that he will fight on behalf of cyclone-affected farmers to do justice to them. He further said that tenant farmers suffered loss due to the cyclone and added that it was responsibility of the government to extend helping hand to them.

He warned that if the government fails to do justice to the cyclone-hit farmers, he will stage dharna on the roads.
