Police launch WhatsApp to receive complaints from public

Srikakulam: The district police have introduced whatsapp number to receive complaints from the public directly and to do justice to victims. Superintendent of Police (SP), Navdeep Singh Grewal launched the whatsapp with its number as 6309990933 in Srikakulam on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion SP explained that to improve transparency in policing and to prevent negligence among police staff, we have introduced the whatsapp number. Any victim or any person can send information with photos to this whatsapp number he explained. After receiving calls, information,
video, photos through this whatsapp, they will be immediately recorded at our control room and forwarded to concerned police station for necessary action SP elaborated. After launching of this whatsapp on first day Tuesday a complaint was received from a person from Hiramandal of Palakonda police sub-division.
With this whatsapp number, we can easily get prima facie evidence concerning to incident and will register case with the available proofs, the SP said. We will display this number at all important junctions across the district to create awareness among people, he added.
