Rajamahendravaram: As prohibitory orders kicked in with the imposition of lockdown, wedding arrangements have been thrown out of gear for the last 50 days.
There is now a move to schedule marriages during this month. Pundits say there are auspicious days (muhurthams) on May 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 23 and 24.
Scheduling marriages has assumed greater urgency now because there are no auspicious days for marriages from July 20 to August during Sravan Masam. With the lockdown restrictions being still in place, there is a move to perform marriages in a subdued manner.
People are submitting applications to the district administration seeking permission to perform marriages with a limited number of guests.
There is also a move on the part of some to perform marriages in secret. Sources in Revenue Department said that as many as 50 applications were submitted seeking permission.
As the temples remain shut, parents are planning to perform marriages in their houses.
