RTA officials' raid on private travels buses in Vijayawada
The Krishna District Transport Department sleuths conducted raids on private travel bus services at Keesara tollgate on Vijayawada-Hyderabad National Highway here on Wednesday.
Vijayawada: The Krishna District Transport Department sleuths conducted raids on private travel bus services at Keesara tollgate on Vijayawada-Hyderabad National Highway here on Wednesday. The checks were conducted in view of frequent accidents on the highway involving private travel buses. The Transport department started the raids two days ago.
According to sources, over three drivers were found consumed liquor while driving the buses. In this backdrop, the special teams were conducting raids from the last two days.
Krishna District Transport Department Deputy Commissioner Meera Kumar said they were conducting raids on private travels services to check violations in the system.
He admitted that some private travels operators were appointing halting drivers for regular duties. He said that the drivers who violated the guidelines were being punished as per the act. He also said that they would continue raids to set right the system.
