Home Minister Mekathoti Sucharita says the State is providing financial assistance of Rs 15,000 to the children of white ration card holders

Guntur: Home Minister Mekathoti Sucharita stressed on the need to protect rights of the children for their golden future.

She addressed a meeting held at Sri Venkateswara Vignana Mandiram in Guntur city on the occasion of Children's Day on Saturday.

She felt development is possible with the education and urged the parents to send their children to the schools. She recalled that the state government was giving Rs 15,000 financial assistance to the children of white ration card holders under 'Amma Vodi' scheme besides distributing Jagananna Vidya kits.

She recalled that the Central government has already announced that children between three and 18 years of age should be in educational institutions under the New Education Policy.

MLC KS Lakshmana Rao said that over two crore children are out of schools in the country. Similarly, in Andhra Pradesh, about 15 lakh children were out of schools.

He reminded that children between 6 years and 14 years of age should be in the schools. Earlier, Sucharita, KS Lakshmana Rao, MLAs Mustafa, Maddali Giridhara Rao paid tributes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Joint collector P Prasanti and other officials were present.
