Rotary Club organises awareness programme to mark World AIDS Day

Srikakulam: Youth should be aware of HIV and its negative impacts, said programme officer (PO) for training team of district medical and health department, Dr J Krishna Mohan. Rotary Club Srikakulam unit organised a programme marking World AIDS Day at Sun Degree College here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Krishna Mohan said we can prevent Human Immuno Virus (HIV) Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) with awareness and precautionary measures only. If anyone is having symptoms, they need to go for accurate medical tests to confirm HIV/AIDS and early detection will save life of the patient who can live for years together with medicines, he said.

Rotary Club president and secretary, M R K Das and P S V S N Varma, college principal P Jayaram, social worker Mantri Venkata Swamy, lecturers and students attended the programme. Each year World AIDS Day is observed with a particular theme and this year it is ending the HIV/ AIDS epidemic-resilience and impact to focus on creating solidarity to HIV patients and de-stigmatise the health issue and also maintain care on HIV victims even in Covid pandemic.
