Guntur: As against 219.7 mms rainfall till July 25, so far, 13 districts in the state received only 149.8 mm rain recording 35.5 per cent deficit rainfall. Only Prakasam and Chittoor districts received normal rainfall.

According sources in the agriculture commissioner's office, normal rainfall is 327.6 mm in West Godavari district. But so far, the district registered only 163.7 mm which accounts for 50 per cent deficit.

Srikakulam got 154.4 mm rainfall while normal rainfall is 279.7 mm. The district registered 44.8 per cent deficit rainfall.

Kurnool is experiencing 43.5 per cent deficit by receiving 173 mm rainfall as against the normal rainfall of 229 mm. Similarly, Anantapur district registered 780.3 mm rainfall so far, while normal is 120.5 mm, which is 41.7 per cent shortfall.

Vizianagaram district received 167.8 mm rainfall, while the normal is 272.6 mm, with a deficit of 38.4 per cent.

East Godavari has 37.7 per cent deficit as it received 201.7 mm as against 323.6 mm normal rainfall.

Kadapa district registered 95.6 mm rainfall so far while normal is 150.9 mm. The deficit is 36.6 per cent. Krishna has 35.2 per cent deficit rain since it got 179 mm rain as against the normal of 277.

5 mm. Similarly, Vizag district recorded 194.1 mm rainfall, while normal rainfall is 285.1 mm. The deficit is 31.9 per cent.

Nellore has deficit rainfall of 26.6 per cent and Chittoor district 11.8 per cent. Prakasam received almost normal rainfall of 132 mm.

Officials in the agriculture department, on the condition of anonymity, said that the officials were expecting good rains for irrigation till August 15 for kharif.
