Tirupati: Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (SPDCL) Chairman-cum-Managing Director Ch Haranadha Rao warned of severe action against the officials concerned who fail to check frequent and prolonged power cuts.

He wanted the officials to take required foolproof measures to avoid power interruptions and also keep adequate stock of transformers for replacement without delay in view of the ensuing summer months. This will ensure immediate restoration of power in case of transformer failures which are normally more in the summer season. Haranadha Rao on Saturday held a video-conference from SPDCL Corporate Office here with senior engineering, revenue and accounts department officials on various issues including power interruption and improving revenue including collection of long pending dues from government and also private firms.

Stating that power interruption was found more in five divisions including Gudur in Nellore district, Puttur in Chittoor district, Rajampeta in Kadapa, Adoni in Kurnool and Kalyandurgam in Anantapur district, the CMD directed the officials to immediately take the required measures to check power interruption.

Severe action will be taken if there are any prolonged and frequent power interruptions, he curtly told the officials in the video-conference and added that there should be no power interruptions more than the permitted level.

Disclosing that the powers dues had gone up to Rs 4,574 crore including Rs 4,332 crore from government and Rs 232 crore from private firms, he sought the officials to take up special drives for the collection of the long pending bills to improve revenue.

Discom Director P Kaladhar Rao, Executive Director T Vanaja and senior officials were present.
