IIIT Sri City organised a 5-day faculty development programme to prepare faculty for online teaching from June 15-19
Tirupati: IIIT Sri City organised a 5-day faculty development programme to prepare faculty for online teaching from June 15-19.
It was attended by 160 faculty members from 22 IIITs across the country. This course was aimed at providing the knowledge and skills for teachers to cater to present day learners and their learning styles.
The course helped faculty to explore various facets of teaching in online platform and they were given opportunities to work with several tools for designing, delivering and assessing online courses.
MHRD Additional Secretary Rakesh Ranjan, in his inaugural address, requested the teachers to ensure that the content and communication reaches out all students, including those, who are living in the remotest areas of the country.
Prof VSS Kumar, Chairman Board of Governors of NITTTR Chennai, who was the guest of honour, said 21st century students learn in a global classroom and not necessarily within four walls.
Educators must understand that the use of digital content and devices will improve teaching and learning and thus enhance educational opportunities and benefit the Millennial.
Dr G Kannabiran, Director, IIIT Sri City, stated that the pandemic situation has forced to go for online teaching. As part of preparation, there is a need to create high quality e-contents which can be orchestrated together for an effective teaching and learning process.
