Guntur: Red chilli purchases were revived in Asia's biggest Mirchi Yard here on Monday. The mirchi yard officials allowed limited stocks and even limited number of traders and the commission agents due to outbreak of coronavirus. Same situation is expected to continue for three or four days. The farmers from various mandals in the district brought red chilli stocks to the mirchi yard for sale. The traders are expecting that if the lockdown is lifted, red chilli arrivals and sales will pickup at the yard.

China is not importing red chillies from India due to outbreak of coronavirus. If the exports were revived to China, the demand for chillies will also increase in the domestic market.

The farmers hope that the demand for red chillies will increase and they will get a better price in the days to come.
