Eluru: The polling staff should deliver their duties with utmost responsibility and carefulness, said Eluru Assembly constituency returning officer and ZP CEO Nagarjunasagar.

He was addressing the polling staff at a training session and awareness programme on election duty conducted at CR Reddy College.

He said that the polling staff should gain total command over voting procedure. All the staff should be present at the polling stations concerned one hour before the commencement of polling.

EVMs, VVPATs and other polling equipment should be kept ready and start the polling exactly at the scheduled time.

They should strictly follow the Election Commission (EC) guidelines during the process of polling.

The ink mark on voter's finger should be crosschecked once again while the voter leaves the polling station.

Some voters would intentionally erase the ink mark and all such voters should be inked again before allowing them to leave the station premises.

The staff should always keep in mind the instructions given to them at the time of training and stick to the responsibility of holding entire polling process smoothly giving no room for problems, he added.
