Srikakulam: TDP is making all efforts to wrest Rajam Assembly segment this time as it lost here with a least margin of votes in 2014 elections. In 2014, YSRCP candidate K Jogulu won against TDP candidate K Pratibha Bharathi with a slender margin of 512 votes.

This time K Muralimohan on behalf of TDP and K Jogulu on YSRCP tickets are in election fray. Initially Rajam was in Nagarikatakam segment later it was reorganised as Honjaram segment subsequently it was changed as Unukuru segment in 1955.

In 2009 Rajam segment has been formed as part of reorganisation of constituencies. Senior leaders P Pundarikakshayya, Ch Ranganayakulu, P SangamNaidu, P Rukminamma, P Rajasekharam,K Kalavenkata Rao, K Pratibhabharathi represented here.

Now, Rajam, Vangara, Regidi and Santhakaviti manals are in Rajam segment. From 2009, Rajam segment was reserved for SC candidates with a total polling stations 285.

In all the four mandals in the segment, Turupukapu voters play crucial role in winning horses. Kalinga, Velama, Padmasali, Vysya and other BC caste voters are occupied later positions.

The constituency has considerable number of SC voters also. TDP leaders are making all possible efforts to capture this segment as it is native segment of TDP State president and Minister for Energy K Kala Venkata Rao.

Kala is native of Unukuru in Regidi mandal which is part of Rajam segment. Total voters 2,09, 646, male 1,06, 663, female 1,02, 950
