Vijayawada: Krishna district police prohibited bath at beaches following rough weather and the possibility of another depression to be formed in the Bay of Bengal that will trigger high tides and heavy rains.

Koduru police have arranged a police picket at the Palakayatippa Karakatta check-post in Koduru mandal and prevented the devotees and tourists from going towards the beach for the bath. During the Karthika Masam, a large number of devotees take bath in the sea.

This year, due to the corona pandemic, the police have already prohibited the sea bath and appealed to the people to avoid the sea. Koduru Sub-inspector of police P Ramesh told the media that devotees will not be allowed to take bath at the beach.

Moreover, the tourists will not be allowed till further orders are issued. He said the weather conditions are changing in the sea due to low pressure likely to be formed in the Bay of Bengal. Recently, Cyclone Nivar devastated the South Coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh. Fishermen were prohibited from venturing into the sea.
