Vijayawada: Vijayawada Municipal Commissioner Venkatesh Prasanna directed the Town Planning and Engineering Department officials to take measures for the widening of the KT Road from Nehru Bomma Centre to Chitti Nagar.
As part of the inspection, the Commissioner visited the One-Town and noticed the traffic problems between Nehru Bomma Centre and Chitti Nagar on Tuesday.
He said the road has a width of 60 feet and 80 feet in different places and underlined the need to widen it to 80 feet. He urged the officials to negotiate with the building owners for acquisition of land widening of the road. The officials said the road widening proposal has been pending for a long time.
He instructed the officials to take measures to remove the silt from the side drains on the main road and ensure that the water does not get clogged in drains during the rainy season. Later, he visited Urmila Nagar and Kabela centre and inspection box culvert works and made some suggestions to the officials.
