Interesting poll battle is on cards in three Assembly segments, Vijayawada East, Central segment and Vijayawada West Assembly constituency.
Vijayawada: Interesting poll battle is on cards in three Assembly segments, Vijayawada East, Central segment and Vijayawada West Assembly constituency. The TDP, YSRCP, Jana Sena and its alliance candidates and one independent candidate are vigorously canvassing for victory in the three Assembly segments of the city. The election campaign reached its peak as only four days left for the polling to be held on April 11 in the State.
The TDP and YSRCP are crossing swords in Vijayawada East constituency, triangular contest is taking place in Central segment and four-cornered contest in Vijayawada West Assembly segment.
Interestingly, one independent candidate Korada Vijaya Kumar, who is vigorously canvassing in the West constituency, can change the fortunes of other contestants.
With only three days left to end the campaign, the candidates intensified the campaign in their respective segments. In Vijayawada East constituency, TDP candidate Gadde Rammohan and YSRCP candidate Boppana Bhava Kumar lock horns to win the East segment which has a voters of 2,52,980.
Boppana is contesting the elections first time and is confident of his victory. While Gadde Rammohan is a senior leader, former MP and sitting MLA. In the Central constituency, there is a triangular contest between TDP, YSRCP and alliance candidate of Jana Sena Party, Left parties and the BSP, Chigurupati Babu Rao. The CPM leader is well known in the constituency for a long time and enjoying the support of Left parties and JSP. He is contesting second time in a row.
Sitting MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao is a TDP candidate and is pinning hopes on the development works in the constituency. He is getting wide support from strong TDP cadre. Moreover, the TDP division leaders are actively participating in the campaign. Total number of voters in Central constituency is 2,45,572.
The third contestant is former MLA and YSRCP candidate Malladi Vishnu. He started campaign long ago and explaining the people about the Nava Ratnalu of the party and development works he undertaken when he was MLA between 2009 and 2014. The contest in Vijayawada West constituency is more interesting because four candidates are in fray to win the battle.
TDP candidate Shabana Khatoon is the daughter of sitting MLA Jaleel Khan. Former MLA Velampalli Srinivas of YSRCP, Potina Mahesh of Jana Sena and alliance parties of CPI, CPM and BSP and independent candidate Korada Vijaykumar are in fray and been canvassing vigorously in the constituency. Electioneering in the West segment is a difficult task as the candidates have to trek the hill areas to solicit the votes.
