People from many villages staged a dharna in front of the office of the Wangara Tahsildar of Srikakulam district. Villagers are concerned about Madduvalusa reservoir being filled with excess water, thereby creating havoc for the twelve villages. The villagers chanted in front of the reservoir in protest. The officials have said to the villagers that they will take the issue to the attention of the government. However, the villagers didn't stop their protest. The police tried to persuade the villagers.

The project works started in 1976 and completed in 2001. Since then people of 12 villages have been facing problems. Five villages, Magguru, Kottisa, Laximpeta, Peddadevakivada and Gudivada, were fully affected.

All development works like roads, drains, water supply etc. are yet to be provided for these villages. The villagers are also being deprived of welfare schemes.
