Visakhapatnam district registered 79 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, taking the tally to 1,055. The death toll rose to seven with two more persons succumbing to the infection. Very active clusters include 92, active clusters 92, dormant clusters 52 and de-notified 28.

From 76 cases recorded on Wednesday to 79 on Thursday and two death cases registered, a sense of fear gripped the denizens in Visakhapatnam amid unlock 2.0. A medical shop owner passed away succumbing to the infection. Meanwhile, a GVMC employee got infected with coronavirus. The department wherein the employee worked has been shut for a few days and sanitisation measures have been taken up on the premises.
New clusters are increasing with each passing day in the district, while the count of single day positive cases continues to surpass the previous record.
Surveillance has been increased in very active clusters through increased police personnel and drone cameras in some areas.
