Visakhapatnam: A low pressure area developed on Tuesday morning over south-west and west-central Bay of Bengal from north Tamil Nadu coast and south coastal Andhra Pradesh.

According to weathermen, low pressure is expected to develop further in the next 24 hours and intensify a monsoon depression on Wednesday. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and in Karnataka from Wednesday.

The south-west monsoon is also getting active and is expected to give heavy showers to coastal and Rayalaseem region where the rain is likely to become from heavy to very heavy. All along the coast, gales with 40 to 50 kmph speed are expected. As the sea will be rough, the fishermen were asked not to venture into the sea.

In Visakhapatnam, several roads were inundated due to rains on Tuesday. Traffic snarls were witnessed in various neighbourhoods, including Dabagardens, NAD junction, Gajuwaka and Kancharapalem.
