Amaravati: Two women sustained injuries when a group of people who were in favour of three capital cities threw stones at the camp of the agitators seeking Amaravati as capital at Uddhandarayuni Palem village in Amaravati on Sunday.

A group of women launched a campaign in the villages of Amaravati on Sunday with the slogan 'Intintiki Amaravati' (Amaravati for every household).

A group of agitators who were in favour of three capital cities tried to obstruct them. They threw stones at the women at a camp in Uddhandarayunipalem injuring two women.

It may be recalled that for the last 370 days, the people of Amaravati have been agitating to retain the capital city at Amaravati as against the YSRCP government proposal to shift the same to three cities across the state.

To counter their agitation, some people supported by the local YSRCP leaders started another agitation favouring the shifting of the capital city to three cities.

When the agitators for the Amaravati capital city started moving from home to home in the villages of Amaravati to bring awareness among people on the importance of retaining the capital city at Amaravati, the anti-Amaravati group took objection and tried to stop them. The latter group went to the extent of throwing stones at the camp where the women were agitating for the last 370 days.
