Dimple Kapadia was one among the sultry sirens of the 1970s, right from the first film ‘Bobby’ (1973) in which she was launched at the age of 16. It was a hit of unimaginable proportions, for its screenplay, music and feel good factor exhibited all through the film

A ten-year break after which she was launched once again by Telugu film director Dasari Narayana Rao in 1984 ( Zakhmi Sher ) saw her do the rounds essaying various roles as a typical heroine to an angry young woman out to avenge her tormentors. Liked by both men and women of those times for her stylish, even haughty kind of a presence onscreen, she was a hit in many films she starred in those years.
The millennium kids would remember her role in the 2001 hit ' Dil Chahta Hai' while she was a complete actress, having performed with established directors like Gulzar and Kalpana Lajmi too. Today is Dimple Kapadia's 63rd birthday.
