Remembering Stars we've lost this Year -2019
We look back at the famous faces we've sadly said goodbye to in 2019.
From actors to musicians to writers to comedians, here are some of the most high profile and inspirational stars who have passed away this year.
Bollywood is one of the biggest film industries in the world. There are thousands of celebrities. Birth and death are the Awkward fantasy of our life. Every year many talented celebrity's death news gives us a shock. Every year we publish a Bollywood Celebrity Death List. You might not even recognize some of them but we must. So here is the Bollywood Celebrity Death List 2019.
1.Shaukat Azmi
Shaukat Kaifi aka Shaukat Azmi, was an Indian theater and film actress. Her husband was the Urdu poet and film lyricist, Kaifi Azmi. She is mother of actress Shabana Azmi. Shaukat Azmi has starred in a dozen films and theatre plays. She was known for her performance in hit films such as Bazaar, Umrao Jaan, Faslah, Naina and Mira Nair's Oscar nominated film Salaam Bombay!. She was last film was Shaadi Ali's Saathiya.
The actress died on 22 Nov 2019 at the age of 93 due to prolonged illness.
2.Raju Mavani
Raju Mavani was born in 1957. He was an actor and producer, known for films such as Ram Aur Shyam (1996), Surakshaa (1995) and Imtihaan (1994). His well known bollywood films was Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Manoj Bajpayee starrer "Shootout at Wadala (2013)" and Prabhu Deva directional Salman Khan, Ayesha Takia, Vinod Khanna starrer Wanted (2009).
The actor and filmmaker passed away after losing his battle to cancer. He passed away on October 31 morning. Raju Mavani was suffering from kidney ailments for years before he was diagnosed with cancer.
3.Geetanjali
Geethanjali was a veteran Telugu actress who appeared in many Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi (bollywood) films as well. Geethanjali was the better half of Telugu actor RamaKrishna.
Geethanjali died in the early hours of 31 October 2019 from cardiac arrest.
4.Champak Jain
Champak Jain was an Indian film and music producer who produced many Hindi films. He was the owner of Venus Records & Tapes Pvt Ltd.
He produced super hit films such as Khiladi (1992), Baazigar (1993), Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), Josh (2000), Humraaz (2002), Hulchul (2004) and more. He died on 31 October 2019 at the age of 52 due to brain hemorrhage.
5.Viju Khote
Viju Khote was an Indian actor and comedian who was known for his portrayal in more than 450 films and tv shows. He was famous as the dacoit 'Kalia' in the film Sholay (1995). He was the younger brother of actress Shubha Khote.
The actor passed away on 30 Sep 2019 at 6.55 am peacefully in his sleep at his Mumbai residence due to organ failure. He has been unwell since quite sometime.
6.Venu Madhav
Venu Madhav was an Indian film actor, television presenter, mimicry artist, and comedian. The actor was a well-known comedian of South film industry. He primarily worked in Telugu cinema but he also appeared in few Tamil and Kannada films.
Venu Madhav was undergoing treatment at Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad for over two weeks due to liver and Kidney complications and he was discharged on 22 Sep. But his family brought him back on Tuesday afternoon after his condition worsened. He was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit and was put on life support. He died around 12.20 on 25 September 2019.
7.Veeru Krishnan
Actor, dancer and dance trainer Veeru Krishnan, best known for his role in Aamir Khan and Karishma Kapoor starrerd 1996's film 'Raja Hindustani'. Veeru trained several actresses including Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and Athiya Shetty. The actor died in Mumbai on September 7. Priyanka along with other celebrities paid tribute to their "guru" on social media afer the news of his death.
8.Mohammed Zahur Khayyam
Mohammed Zahur Khayyam Hashmi, better known as Khayyam was born on 18 February 1927. He was an Indian music director and background score composer who composed music for more than 50 films and his career spanned seven decades (1947–2016).
The legendary music composer and singer died in a Mumbai hospital on 19 August 2019 at the age of 92.
9.Vidya Sinha
Vidya Sinha was an Indian actress who appeared in Bollywood films. The is well known for films such as Rajnigandha (1974), Chhoti Si Baat (1975) and Pati Patni Aur Woh (1978). She started her career as a model and won the Miss Bombay title. Her first movie was Raja Kaka (1974) opposite Kiran Kumar.
She had been admitted to the hospital on 11 August for breathing problems and subsequently put on a ventilator. On 15 August 2019, Sinha died at a hospital in Mumbai of respiratory failure caused by heart and lung disease at the age of 71.
10.Vijaya Nirmala Krishna
Vijaya Nirmala was an Indian film actress, producer, and director known for her works in Telugu cinema. She appeared in over 200 films in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam, and directed 44 Telugu films. Vijaya Nirmala is the stepmother of south superstar Mahesh Babu. In 2002, she entered the Guinness Book of Records as the female director of the most films In 2008, she received the Raghupathi Venkaiah Award for her contributions to Telugu cinema.
Veteran actress and director Vijaya Nirmala died in a Hyderabad hospital on 27 Jun 2019 at the age of 75.
11.Girish Karnad
Girish Karnad was an Indian award-winning actor, film director, writer, a playwright who is predominantly known for his works in South Indian and Bollywood cinema. Karnad made his acting as well as screenwriting debut in a Kannada movie, Samskara (1970). After that, he worked in more than 100 films and his career spanned almost 5 decades. The actor's last Bollywood film was Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), where he played the role of Dr. Shenoy (RAW Chief).
Girish Karnad died at a hospital in Bengaluru at 6.30 am on 10 June 2019 at the age of 81 due to multiple organ failure following a prolonged illness.
12.Veeru Devgan
Veeru Devgan was a renowned stunt director, who choreographed the action sequences in over 80 Bollywood films, especially in the Nineties films such as Mr. India, Phool Aur Kaante, Shahenshah, Dilwale, etc..
Veteran action choreographer Veeru Devgan died in Mumbai on 27 May 2019. He was 85. Mr. Devgan was the father of actor Ajay Devgn. The late action director encountered breathing trouble after which he was immediately admitted to Surya Hospital, Santa Cruz. At the hospital, his condition turned critical and he suffered a cardiac arrest.
Almost all Bollywood celebrities such as Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan, Sunny Deol, Amitabh Bachchan attended the funeral to paid condolences.
13. Navtej Hundal
Navtej Hundal was a less known Indian actor. He appeared in movies like Khalnayak, Tere Mere Sapne, and used to take acting classes for students. His last portrayal was in Aditya Dhar's 2019's blockbuster film Uri: The Surgical Strike.
The teacher and actor died in Mumbai on 8 Apr 2019. Navtej Hundal is survived by two daughters and wife. Both of his beautiful daughters, Avantika Hundal, and Faaya Hundal is an Indian TV actress and model. Avantika Hundal appeared in popular TV serials such as 'Yeh Hai Mohabbatein'.
14.J. Mahendran
J. Mahendran was a well-known Indian film director, screenwriter, and actor, known for his work in the Tamil film industry. He was born on 25 July 1939. According to reports, He had been critically ill and He was brought home from the Apollo Hospital on 1 Apr 2019 after being treated for a week. On 02 Apr 2019, he died early in the morning at his residence.
15.Kodi Ramakrishna
Kodi Ramakrishna was a Well-known Telugu filmmaker. He directed more than 100 films. Best-known for directing memorable films such as Ankusam, Ammoru, and Arundhati.
The director died on 22 Feb 2019. According to a source close to Ramakrishna's family, he died while undergoing treatment at AIG Hospitals.
16.Raj Kumar Barjatya
Raj Kumar Barjatya was a well-known Bollywood film producer. He is best known for producing films such as Hum Aapke Hain Koun…! (1994), Hum Saath-Saath Hain (1999), Vivaah (2006), Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015), etc.
Producer Raj Kumar Barjatya, the father of filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya, died in Mumbai on 21 February 2019 morning. Kumar Barjatya died of a heart attack while taking treatment at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital.
17.Vijaya Bapineedu
Vijaya Bapineedu was a magazine editor turned renowned Telugu film screenwriter and director. The director gave blockbuster films such as Maga Maharaju (1983), Khaidi No. 786 (1988), Gang Leader (1991) etc with superstar Chiranjeevi. He passed away at his residence in Hyderabad on 12 Feb 2019 at 83. He directed around 25 films in the Telugu film industry.
Mohan Babu, Allu Arjun, and Chiranjeevi are among the many celebrities of Telugu cinema who have sent their condolences to Vijaya Bapineedu's family.
18.Mahesh Anand
Mahesh Anand was a lesser known for the new generation but he was a well-known actor of '90s. He played a villain role in various films. The actor was born on August 13, 1961. Mahesh married to actress Usha Bachani for two years (2000 – 2002).
The 57-year-old actor was found dead in his Andheri apartment on 9 Jan 2019. The police found his body in a decomposed state and he was said to have drinking problems.
19.Ramesh Bhatkar
Ramesh Bhatkar was a Marathi film and TV actor. He was born on 3 August 1949. The actor was best known for his roles in the TV series 'Commander' and 'Hello Inspector'. He worked for more than 30 years as an actor in the mainstream commercial movies of the Marathi and Hindi languages.
The actor, who was suffering from cancer for more than one and a half years, breathed his last at a hospital. He died on 4 February 2019 at the age of 70 in Mumbai due to cancer.
