Transform your wall space

Colour-block your wall

For a graphic statement, colour-block your wall. Paint half of it a bold colour or opt for two neutral tones. Here, black creeps up about a quarter of the way while the rest is a nice shade of steel gray, creating an understated-yet-unique statement.

Apply accent wallpaper

You don't have to wallpaper your entire room—just pick a wall and accent with it. It's fast, easy, and makes a big difference.

Opt for statement art

Make a simple wall a little more exciting with oversized artwork. Choose large-scale photography or something abstract and vibrant to really make a statement.

Rethink your gallery wall

If the walls in a hallway are feeling tired, add a gallery wall. Bring in antique frames, or hit up a thrift store or flea market, and arrange a ton of hand mirrors into a gallery wall.

Paint It black

Black might sound scary, but it looks totally sexy in a bedroom. To keep it from feeling too dark, opt for white bedding and make sure you have enough natural light in the room.

Get a new shade

A colourful Roman shade can make a huge difference. An even easier hack? Cover a plain one with wallpaper.

Hang mirrors

Mirrors reflect light, helping a small space to feel bigger and brighter. Try hanging an oversize mirror, or display several smaller pieces salon-style.

Showcase fabric

A tapestry or wall hanging can add colour and pattern, as well as a sense of softness to a space. Consider framing vintage scarves or other pretty textiles. Bonus: It's a lot easier to move than framed paintings when it comes time to head to your next home.

Hang plates

Why hide your fine china in the cabinet when you can show it off? Use wire plate hangers to display your favourite dishes and serving platters.
