Hyderabad: The 'National Technology Day' was held at Vallurupalli Nageswara Rao Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology (VNRVJIET) on Saturday. Dr Reddy Shetty Prakasham, Chief Scientist at the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) Hyderabad, graced the event as the Chief Guest and Speaker.

On this occasion, Dr Reddy Shetty Prakash spoke about the future technologies that are all set to change the mankind. His talk outlined biomimetics, the technology obtained through imitating the nature —material science, nanotechnology, biotechnology, and engineering challenges thereof.

Speaking at the occasion, the Institute's Director for Advancement, Dr B Chenna Kesava Rao spoke about the diversified diffusion of industry 4.0 technologies, dubbed as "Mezzanine Technologies" at the Institute, such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality, Cyber Security, Internet of Things, and Data Sciences and Analytics — into various application domains.

The National Technology Day is celebrated on the day in 1998 on which three exclusive, major events occurred: the nuclear missile Shakti-1 was tested at Pokhran, India's first indigenously developed light general aviation plane Hansa-3 was flown at Bengaluru, and the final test of surface-to-air missile Trishul was conducted. The Pokhran II test is a historical event that catapulted India to become the sixth nuclear state of the world. The event was attended by faculty members of the Institute.
