The latest numbers: The novel coronavirus has killed more than 2,900 people worldwide, the vast majority in mainland China. There have been more than 85,000 global cases, with infections on every continent exceptAntartica., the National Health Commission announced that the death toll due to the deadly virus has reached 2,900 in China and 7 deaths in South Korea. We must all take protective measures to keep us safe from contracting viruses or potential infections.

Here are a few acts that you can integrate into your daily routine-

1-Avoid touching your eyes, coronaviruses of the nose and mouth are a family of viruses which target the respiratory systems. Hence, keeping yourself sanitised at all times is very necessary. Your hands come into contact with various surfaces that could become infected with the virus. You put yourself at greater risk of transferring the virus to yourself if you touch your eyes, nose and mouth without sanitising.

2. Avoid Undercooked or Raw Meat Consumption However, coronavirus normally infects animals but can be transmitted to humans if they are in contact with the infected animals. Ideal for careful handling of raw milk or meat to avoid any cross-contamination that may occur

3. Wash Your Hands Regularly

Washing your hands regularly with alcohol-based handwash reduces the risk of virus transmission. You can also hygienize your hands at regular intervals, if not handwash. Do not overdo it, however, as it may dry your hands and cause them to crack and bleed which is again a contamination opportunity.

4. Maintain Respiratory Hygiene

Each time you sneeze or cough make sure to cover your mouth. If you are using tissues for the same purpose, please ensure you immediately discard the tissue used. Shortly afterwards sanitize the hands to avoid any risks. This will prevent the spread of any germs or contaminate immediate objects around you. You can also use a mask just make sure you don't always use the same mask, over and over again, that might also increase the risk of contamination.

You are responsible for your own wellbeing. Be alert and be safe!
