Hyderabad: The civic body in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has a week-long 'Pothole Challenge 2019' that was rolled out on Friday. Citizens are required to click a photo of a pothole and upload it on BMC's official app Fixit.
Once it is flagged on the app and not attended to within 24 hours the person would be rewarded Rs 500. The idea is gaining traction and people in the city too are giving thumbs up to the idea. Considering the current conditions of the roads, people have been asking GHMC to take up the idea and start a similar initiative.
Varun R, an IT employee who travels from Bowenpally to Gachibowli, says, "If such an initiative is launched, it will have several takers and the GHMC too will become accountable." Pragathi N, a commerce student of Bhavans College, Sainikpuri, says, "Commutable roads is the need of the hour and GHMC should take some ideas from BMC and start something similar. All the requests are falling on deaf ears and nothing is being done to repair the miserable roads, she said.
