Cricket betting racket busted; two arrested
The sleuths of South Zone Team of Task Force busted a cricket betting racket and arrested two accused persons, while prime accused is in absconding.
Begumpet: The sleuths of South Zone Team of Task Force busted a cricket betting racket and arrested two accused persons, while prime accused is in absconding.
Officials also seized net cash of Rs 97,050 and two mobile phones from the possession of the accused persons. The accused persons were identified as Sandeep (main bookie; absconding), P Bhanu (32) and P Srinu (22).
According to the police, prime accused Sandeep hatched a plan by organising cricket betting to make easy and quick money with the assistance of Bhanu. Both the accused persons were getting receiving calls from the punters and they were collecting the betting amounts with the assistance of one collection boy named Srinu.
On Thursday, on credible information that the accused persons were collecting huge betting amounts from punters, the sleuths of Task Force nabbed them at the residence of Bhanu while the collection boy Srinu was handing over the betting collections to Bhanu.
Cops seized net cash of Rs 97,050 and two cell phones at the instance of accused persons, while the prime accused Sandeep is absconding. The accused persons along with seized property handed over to Begumpet police station for further actions.
