Rajendranagar: With the reports of increase in dengue cases and complaints pouring in from different areas about rise in mosquito population, the entomology wing of GHMC Rajendranagar has swung into action with anti-larva operations to check the spread of mosquitoes in schools, water bodies, hostels and even in localities.

On being informed about the positive cases of dengue being reported in Shastripuram camp, the assistant entomologist, GHMC Rajendranagar, Udai Kiran affirming the alarming situation, said "We are doing our best to check the spread of mosquitoes as well as bringing awareness among the people about the repercussions of mosquito bites.

The mosquitoes are the main cause of spreading dengue from one another. Largely the mosquitoes are nocturnal but the one who cause disease like dengue are active even in daytime. To check the spread of these mosquitoes we are organising "Anti-Larva Operations" in different areas."

"We are regularly and actively administering fogging and spraying anti-larva chemicals to check the spread of mosquitoes. Also, we are organising awareness camps in government schools and other public institutions to teach the children and the elders the methods of precautions that keeps them safe from the bite of mosquitoes."

He confirmed that scores of complaints were pouring in about people suffering from seasonal diseases due to spread of mosquitoes.
