First bonam presented to Ujjain Mahankali
Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, attended the first bonam programme at Ujjain Mahankali temple on behalf of the state government held here on Sunday.
Secunderabad: Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, attended the first bonam programme at Ujjain Mahankali temple on behalf of the state government held here on Sunday. Jogini Shyamala carried the first bonam on her head and presented it to the deity. The bonalu celebrations were started amidst pomp and gaiety.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the state government had been celebrating bonalu festival as an official state festival and all the arrangements were made for successful conduct of celebrations. As part of the celebrations, the first bonam was presented to the deity Mahankali.
Arrangements were made to form separate que for those women who present bonam to the deity, he said. Elaborate lighting arrangements and health camps were provided, he said. 'Ghata' processions would continue up to July 20, he said. The minister said that no other previous government has provided so many funds as TRS government for festival celebrations.
