The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to establish five major theme parks in Kukatpally zone as a part of Haritha Haram programme.

Kukatpally: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to establish five major theme parks in Kukatpally zone as a part of Haritha Haram programme. These parks will be built on acres of open land available in all these five division of Kukatpally zone that includes Moosapet, Kukatpally, Qutubullapur, Gajularamaram, Alwal circle.

GHMC has identified the vacant land of two acres each in Moosapet division, Kukatpally division, Qutubullapur division, Gajularamaram division, Alwal division. The work would begin in the last week of May and each park would be having a different theme and all this theme was decided by Shankaraiah, Zonal Commissioner, Kukatpally Zone.

The theme for the five parks are Rock Garden theme park at KPHB 4th phase in Kukatpally, Indoor Shade plants theme park in Spring-field park, Alwal, Bamboo theme park in TSSIIC park, Gajularamaram, Bougainville flower theme park in Vaishnavi Enclave, Qutubullapur, and Butterfly them park in KPHB 7th phase, Moosapet. P Yadagiri, Deputy Director, Urban Biodiversity, Kukatpally zone, said, "This all vacant land which we had identified belongs to GHMC and now we would develop it into a theme park as a part of Haritha Haram programme. The parks would have several facilities including pathway, sitting benches, drinking water facility, children play equipment, toilets, flower beds, and lawns."

He further said that, "We have planned to plant around 1,000-2,000 plants in each park according to the theme. As for Bougainvillea flower theme park we are planning to plant all most all the varieties of bougainvillea flowers, for Butterfly Theme park planning to plant nearly 40 types of plant species which naturally attracts the butterflies that include passionflower, lantana plants, butterfly weed plants.

For rock garden theme park, the plants which require less water we decided to plant those types of plants that include aloe vera, cactus and many more. Plants like lady's palm, Chinese evergreen plants for Indoor Shade plants theme park and various bamboo spices plants for the Bamboo theme park."

The estimated budget is around Rs 60 lakh for each park and work would be completed by the end of July. "We have planned to dig compost pits in this five major parks and produce own manure by using vegetable waste and that manure we can use as fertilizers in the parks," said Deputy Director.
