Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Police Commissioner, Anjani Kumar on Wednesday presented the works carried out by the police department for the upcoming GHMC polls. He also conducted a flag march from Charminar-Rajesh Medical Hall-Nagulchinta X Roads- Sudha Library- Hari Bowli-Volta- Ethebar Chowk- Gulzar House- Charminar.

While interacting with media persons, he noted, "There are 4,979 polling stations in the city limits, 62 polling stations of wards pertaining to Hyderabad comes under Cyberabad and 105 polling stations of wards pertaining to Cyberabad and Rachakonda falls in Hyderabad and a total of 1,632 polling locations are in the city."

"A total of 601 polling locations and 1,701 polling stations are in the sensitive areas. Apart from it, 307 polling locations and 1,085 polling stations are in hypersensitive places and 15 check posts are installed in and around the city limits," stated the officer.

He further noted, "We have ensured that the elections are conducted peacefully and for the peaceful conduct of elections, 2,785 persons having criminal background were bounded over, out of which 1,167 are rowdy sheeters and 1,618 are suspects. A total of 3,744 weapons have been deposited with us and six SHE teams have been formed to monitor the activities of women suspects."

"Moreover, the cash seized was Rs. 1, 40, 87, 450 and various drugs weighing 800 grams worth Rs. 10,00,000 was seized. Ganja and liquor was also seized from persons who posed a threat to the peaceful conduct of elections. Lastly, 23 FIR's were registered against the violators of model code of conduct," added the Commissioner.

"More importantly we have enhanced the usage of technology for the upcoming elections. Regular monitoring of public gathering near and within 100 meters of polling stations will be done from the Command Control Centre and monitoring of important locations will be done through 4 camera mounted vehicles. Apart from it, the application team shall monitor the movement of all GPS based patrol vehicles in the city and the team will also monitor the Dial 100 calls. The staff employed with social media teams have also been enhanced, as the social media team will receive complaints from netizens and forward the complaint to the respective PS," explained the Commissioner.
