GHMC slaps fines on food outlets

The GHMC Entomology Department officials on Thursday levied a fine of Rs 1 lakh on Café Bahaar restaurant and Rs 50,000 on Oyo Hotel located in front of Alekya Towers in L B Nagar for causing breathing and health problems on account of smoke and foul smell emanating from the two establishments.
LB Nagar: The GHMC Entomology Department officials on Thursday levied a fine of Rs 1 lakh on Café Bahaar restaurant and Rs 50,000 on Oyo Hotel located in front of Alekya Towers in L B Nagar for causing breathing and health problems on account of smoke and foul smell emanating from the two establishments.
The locals had complained to the GHMC Deputy Commissioner and medical officer about the restaurant releasing wastes into Alekya Towers drainage, blocking the flow of sewerage. The GHMC officials warned of taking stringent action against business establishments being run in residential areas without permission and causing hardship to the residents.
