HMWSSB urged to supply water to bastis
A complaint that the residents of SC Basti and Vambe Basti in Papireddy Colony are suffering because of non-supply of drinking water was lodged by Raju Shetty, the president of Pradhan Mantri Janakalyan Yojana, Ranga Reddy district, during the ‘Prajavani’ programme in Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB).
Serilingampally: A complaint that the residents of SC Basti and Vambe Basti in Papireddy Colony are suffering because of non-supply of drinking water was lodged by Raju Shetty, the president of Pradhan Mantri Janakalyan Yojana, Ranga Reddy district, during the 'Prajavani' programme in Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB).
Raju said in the complaint that there was a need for understanding the problems of the residents and expedite the works intended to provide water supply. He demanded registration of criminal cases against some contractors for providing illegal connections after allegedly collecting Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000, taking advantage of the people's plight in Vambe Basti.
Raju demanded sanction of Rs 1 tap connection to those who are in real need. He was accompanied by residents Sai Lakshmi, Babu, Ravi, Govind, Nagayya and Raju when the complaint was lodged with the GM of the board concerned.
