Hyderabad City leads in gifting Bathukamma sarees at Mallapur
GHMC Mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan launched Bathukamma saree distribution programme at VNR Gardens in Mallapur on Tuesday. MLA Bethi Subhash Reddy and MBC chairman Thaduri Srinivas also participated in saree distribution.
Mallapur: GHMC Mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan launched Bathukamma saree distribution programme at VNR Gardens in Mallapur on Tuesday. MLA Bethi Subhash Reddy and MBC chairman Thaduri Srinivas also participated in saree distribution.
Speaking on the occasion, Bonthu Ram Mohan said, "Government started saree distribution on the occasion of Bathukamma festival to respect women in the state. Nearly 15 lakh sarees are being distributed in Greater division. The total budget spent for manufacturing sarees is nearly 300 crore rupees."
The Mayor reminded that nearly one lakh sarees were being distributed in Uppal division alone. He further added, "Bathukamma festival got national recognition after the division of state only. CM KCR introduced saree distribution and provided employment to many weavers."
Bethi Subhash Reddy said, "Our Chief minister KCR always thinks about the happiness of people in the state and it results in the progress of pensions, and outlay for Rythu Bandhu, Kalyana Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak, Mission Bhageeratha programmes."
Women in large numbers participated in the programme played Bathukamma. Zonal Commissioner S Srinivas Reddy, corporators Pannala Devendar Reddy, Golluri Anjayya, Pavani Reddy, Santhi Sekhar, deputee commissioner Dasaradh and others were present.
