Hyderabad: Residential welfare associations from East Anandbagh have urged the contesting parties of GHMC polls to address two long-pending issues namely, removal of their colonies from Wakf properties list and also widening of nala along Banda Cheruvu nala by removing the encroachments.

Executive Board members and residents from these colonies brought their issue to the notice of Malkajgiri MLA Mynampally Hanumanth Rao and TRS corporator candidate Prem Kumar when they visited the area as part of the GHMC poll campaign a few days ago.

G Venkateshwar Reddy, president of Sri Ramachandra Enclave, stated that they addressed letters to local MLA and also to MA&UD Minister K T Rama Rao earlier. He said that Survey Numbers-561, 562, 563 and 592 are reportedly notified as belonging to Wakf Board a few years ago while the layout was sanctioned by then Malkajgiri gram panchayat way back in the early 1960s. For all these years, there was no prohibition on the sale and purchase of houses on these survey numbers and people have constructed houses and are in possession of them for the last five decades.

Vardharajulu, General Secretary of Anantha Saraswathy Nagar Colony Welfare Association and Somaiah, General Secretary of CIEFL Colony Welfare Association also brought this issue to the notice of MLA and urged him to expeditiously resolve the matter.

Venkateshwar Reddy said that a GO has to be issued to remove the survey numbers from the prohibited and agriculture category on Dharani portal. The colony associations from East Anandbagh expressed happiness after Minister K T Rama Rao made a statement on stage to resolve the Wakf lands issue during his roadshow in Anandbagh on Thursday.
